Sculpture

Stan Lee

I create art for countless of reasons. Typically with intent and purpose. I don’t like to waste time so when an opportunity presents itself where I can use my talents to add value to a project or goal… I’m all in. One day talking with my art director at the studio he came up with the term, “Creative Bucket List”. These are the things that you always wanted to do through your creative endeavors but needed a good reason. There are lots of things on my list but the Stan Lee sculpture was one of them. A full sculpture in the round.

A Lifetime Achievement.

It was a true honor to have had the fortunate opportunity to work with a legendary creative the likes of Stan Lee. While developing an original hero series with POW! and F84 we spent time together, listening to his wisdom and feedback on our work. The star of our work was Stan himself. I was able to take this opportunity to craft a full sculpture in the round of our main character Stan and will forever have this moment captured in photo and my heart.

Cubes

I’ve been drawn to this primitive object over and over again in a number of ways. From my love of pixels that adorned video game art of my childhood to the structural building block of our society. I often come back to this shape when I create art. In the images of the objects below you will find inspiration from automotive and videogames.

I’ve always loved cars. As a kid I lined my Matchbox and Hot Wheels up like dealerships. I drew lines to make the parking-lots on paper and placed these drawings beneath my toys. As an adult I’ve found passion in classic cars and the art and design of automotive. This is the beginning of a new series. The sculptures are being built from the creation of Cubes built from old license plates.

Cubes inside of cubes. The art of 2D meets the physical sculpture in 3D. The block above is relevant to my youth. Mario Bros and others captured my heart and creative attention. I spent hours transferring the pixels I saw in the games I played to my pad of graph paper. This image is the “Question Block” found in the legendary Mario Bros.
